Revisiting Ellie's Catering Example

Let's go back to Ellie's catering business. The first step in her process involves gathering details about the client, the event, and the menu. In the tech world, we call these details 'data,' which are stored in structures known as tables. You can think of these tables like spreadsheets. With Glide, we can add and store this information, which is then used to generate proposals.

Now, it's your turn to apply this to your business. Consider the process you're working on and break it down, focusing on the information needed at each stage.

Starting a New Glide Project

In my current Glide project, we're working with a new table named 'events.' To manage our process effectively, we need a designated place to store each piece of information. So, what data do we need? We begin with client details like their first name, last name, organization, and email - essential for sending proposals. Then, we collect information about the event, such as its name, dates, and specific menu items like appetizers, entrees, and desserts. This is just the starting point, but it's enough to get us going.

We've now established a repository for our data. The next step is creating a screen or layout to collect this information, which is a crucial part of making our process more efficient.
